CONTEMPLATE*ion

Posted by: fatiyahhadi on: Oktober 5, 2007

Assalamualaikum,

it has been a while (very long actually) since the last entry. I’m not a blogger, so i don’t write as much as i think and WORRY. i thought it will be good if i share something which might benefit others (even though i know that this blog is only read by 4 ppl-hehehe). Last i night, i listened to a talk, about contemplate*ion. so here it went:

(before you continue reading, i would like to inform you that, what i wrote here must not necessarily agree with you, and if you don’t, it is up to you.)

it talked about the separation of the ‘mind’ and the ‘heart’ in the eastern & western community. But in Islam, we don’t just focus on either or, rather we have balance between these two.

This is can be pictured by the differences of faith and iman.

By having a faith, you don’t necessarily have the knowledge of what you are believing in. However, to have iman, you need to belief with knowledge.

so, as we know,  the remembrance of Allah is the most Noble deeds of all. As we zikr, the words, like Subhanallah, it has meaning and we have to contemplate to the words. (because sometimes some words could not just be translated)

At the end, the speaker said that we have to have the knowledge about Allah. for example, the 99 names of Allah, so that when we remember Allah, we can transfer the wisdom of the mind to the heart.

(is like, it is good when you say the words to remember Allah without contemplating, but it is even better when you say all those words and contemplate with its knowledge and deep meaning because you’ll get sakinah)

My words:

You might not understand it, but might probably can. Anyway, i just hope that this entry will make you think about the Amazing creations of Allah so that when we do zikr, we do it with all our heart and our mind. (teringat lagu Dawud Wharnsby Ali)
